Professor Rosin performed the first laparoscopic cholecystectomy in England in February 1990. He was Senior Vice President of the Royal College of Surgeons, President of the British Association of Surgical Oncology, President of the Section of Surgery at the Royal Society of Medicine, President of the British Melanoma Society & is current President of the Caribbean Society of Endoscopic Surgeons.

Consultant Surgeon to St. Mary's Hospital, Imperial College School of Medicine in London from 1979-2007 he moved to Barbados asd Professor of Surgery at UWI in 2008. Past Hunterian Professor of Surgery & is Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Surgery.He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Englnd, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh

An Hon. fellow of the Caribbean College of Surgeons, the East, Central & South African College of Surgeons, the Indian Association of Surgeons, the Indian Association of Surgical Oncologists, the South African Society of Endoscopic Surgeons & the Association of General Surgeons of Peru.

Major interests are cancer surgery, gastro-intestinal surgery, hernia surgery anal surgery with special emphasis on Minimal Access (Laparoscopic) surgery as well as the surgery of skin cancers.
